I didn't buy this for a controller but for a headset that didn't have a mute button. I used a 1' 3.5" extension and then took out the headset. Without an extension it can only be connected to a PS4 controller. I was looking for something that was 3.5mm male to female with a mute option, and this was the only one i could find and for that it works great i don't use the volume knob at all but it works well enough the output jack seems a bit finicky at times and when i bump into it i have a noise, but it's fairly common on the 3.5 so I wouldn't mind.
