It does the most important thing it needs

I bought this to replace my 4 port VGA KVM IOGEAR Miniview (GCS1744) I've had since 2006. It eventually stopped working (2019). The problem I had was that the rear USB ports eventually stopped providing enough power for my Logitech Performance MX wireless mouse and Nitehawk X8 mechanical keyboard. It worked when I plugged both devices into an unpowered USB hub and plugged them into the same port. Eventually that stopped working and I got a self powered USB 3.0 hub which fixed the problem. Good. Sorry for the long setup. The CKLau 2-Port Dual Monitor KVM Switch is a compact device. Feels very solid. It doesn't take up much space but is heavy enough not to be dragged by cables. The buttons have a clear click and they switch between my monitors instantly. I had a problem with the mouse and keyboard. The connections on the back are also de-energized. I don't remember seeing that in the product description. I even tried using a powered USB 3.0 hub but that didn't solve the problem. The user guide mentions that if you have a mechanical keyboard, you may need to use the connector on the front of the device. I plugged an unpowered USB hub into the front port and connected my mouse transceiver and mechanical keyboard to it and everything works great except aesthetically I really wanted all the cables to come out the back. wrote CKLau about it and got no answer. Nothing. I don't think there's any excuse for a KVM switch in 2019 for not having self-powered USB ports in the right places, but I know no year does a vendor have an excuse to address my concerns regarding the product cannot be answered. .I gave 3 stars because despite the placement of the cable, it solved my need for keyboard, video and mouse sharing and I can live with the cable problem. I would give 4 stars if the company at least solved my problem.
