There are certain authors you can rely on with all your senses and Corinne Michaels is definitely at the top of that list. I've read all the books she wrote and usually you read while waiting for your shoe to fall. That moment that makes you gasp and then blindly reach for that box of tissues while it breaks your heart. But I will tell you this. i didn't cry I laughed. I fainted. I wanted to get the heroine's husband a voodoo doll. I still felt all the feelings, and Corinne wrote a real romantic comedy! It played out just like in the movie as Christine McGee finds her life seemingly falling apart as she finally gets fed up with her husband's emotional abuse. I think we've all been there before and felt like we weren't enough. It was our fault. You feel Christine's pain and agony in this first chapter as she struggles with what to do. Staying in an unhealthy relationship just for the sake of your kids is not an option. Little does she know that this election will put her in the crosshairs of Hollywood actor Noah Frazier. From the moment they meet, you feel a spark. I just love them both individually and as a couple. Korine effortlessly switches points of view between them, and I particularly enjoyed the interaction between Noah and Kristin's two children, Audrey and Finn. And there's a cameo appearance by characters from the previous Corinne series that had me grinning from ear to ear. It didn't feel like a gimmick like some of these cameo appearances can sometimes be. These characters fit the story so well. I smile as I remember this as I write this review. Second chance novels are my favorites and this one tops that list.
