I have to admit I used them for watercolor pencils. They are MUCH more accurate than plastic squeezable reservoir brushes, but they actually have a reservoir that is much easier to use than dip brushes (best of both worlds). It took me a while to realize that I had to take the brush tip out of the cap and flip it (no big deal). But I couldn't figure out how to reset the ratchet/piston. As far as I can tell, they're single-use, which can be fine for makeup, but isn't cost-effective for a starving artist. (UPDATE: I'm not the only one with this issue and the company now has a refill video. Upgraded to five stars.)
