Review on ✈️ ASA E6B Metal Flight Computer: Enhance Your Aviation Navigation with Advanced Metal Design by Justin Olson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Recommended by my CFI - and I'm impressed. Also, it's a cool toy for geeks.

I am starting out in flight training but have a fairly heavy workload at the moment so my CFI forces me to focus on learning various tools and concepts to be worked on in a relatively short amount of time can time. when I have a few free minutes. He advised me to buy this E6B when he first started the paper and after a few accidental misuses (coffee/water spilled while gliding, things pushed into his flight bag etc.) he found that there were a few years out of each held paper out. He switched to aluminum and has had it for over 20 years and has been recommending it ever since. Aside from its actual use in flight, an E6B of any kind can be a "geek toy" for anyone interested in mathematics. , Science and Technology as it is the newest widely used slide rule style instrument. The more you use/play/think about the E6B, the more you will realize the incredible talent that has gone into creating what appears to be a very simple instrument, both in terms of actual concept and execution. What at first glance seems arbitrary is actually very well defined, and what at first seems like a tool for a very specific function suddenly has many other uses. The build quality of this model is excellent. It uses a plastic friction bushing that more or less eliminates the joint wear problems common to earlier metal versions. While thicker and heavier than paper, I consider it a steal in favor of metal's benefits.
