As I said, this cable is good for nothing and nothing. It's supposedly rated for 10 amps, which is about 1200 watts from a US outlet at 120 volts. I'm not an electrician, just a guitarist, so don't quote me on that. Anyway, a little googling got me this. Some reviews say the cable gets hot and can't really handle 500-600W of power for hours. I can't comment on that as it's not my situation. Here's my situation: I have several guitar and bass amps that I need power cords for. I definitely recommend these cables for this particular use. In any case, most of the guitar amps I use them on are underpowered. I haven't had any problems with overheating. I don't run my tube amps for six hours straight either. (Lights are way too expensive to do that unless you play them!) Since I typically only use power cords for 30 minutes to an hour at a time, the cords aren't an overheating problem anyway. I use a power cord with a 150-200w bass amp but no problems so far. If you're considering buying these power cords as a replacement for a low powered guitar amp, they should be perfect for you. If you're using them for something that draws VERY high power, you might want to consider a heavier power cord.
