Item arrived in an AC Delco box, sealed with carelessly applied tape. I'm always skeptical when I find a tape that doesn't look like it. should be there. The sensor I received did not have the factory sensor markings and the mold lines were different. I'm not sure if the sensor I received was the sensor originally packaged in the box, maybe someone replaced it with a different sensor. I don't know what Revain does with returned car parts, are they tested and resold or sent to wholesalers? I don't think a Revain employee or most auto parts store employees would notice a third party part being placed in a Delco AC bag and returned, if the bag was tape sealed the return may not have been verified at all. It's been 10 years since GM built the 3800 engine so I wouldn't be surprised if the original tooling gets destroyed and AC Delco now buys those parts from another supplier. The suspicious part I received may not be the result of some kind of fraud, it may just be a part that AC Delco sells as an OEM part and it is different. Anyway, I put a new sensor in because I didn't know it was wrong. Exactly the same sensor until I had already spent a lot of time trying to get the old sensor out and had no way of putting the faulty sensor back in or waiting a few more days for Amazon to send something else. The new sensor seems to be working fine, I've driven about 30 miles with no stops, but the problem was very intermittent prior to replacing the sensor, so I can't be sure it won't happen with the new sensor. If I'm still having problems, I'm torn between trying to find another problem or suspecting that the new sensor might be of poor quality and causing the problem. This is one of those cases where I probably should have bought the part. from somewhere close by and paid twice as much, at least I could inspect the item before paying if the packaging was suspicious. I wish AC Delco were more open about sourcing their parts, the "professional" line of parts should be exact OEM parts, but it seems random lately, AC Delco sells the same imported parts as everyone else. even today, especially when it comes to spare parts for old cars.
