Review on XFasten Double Sided Acrylic Mounting Tape Removable, Black, 1-Inch X 450-Inch, Weatherproof Adhesive For Brick, Walls- Indoor And Outdoor Applications by Patrick Keita

First time use and follow-up

I originally bought this to attach an LED square sided rope light to the cross members on my Gazebo. I decided to cut 2" pieces and stick them along the metal frame @ 16" to 20" intervals. I was concerned that had I simply laid it continuously along the frame I might not be to remove the lights. I wiped the frame down with a semi-dry rag to remove dust etc, then applied the tape. It adhered well, but not so I couldn't get it unstuck fairly easily. The rope light stuck more firmly once the top tape cover was removed. The lights have on there for a couple of weeks in fairly cool weather. and are well and truly secure. No water can hit them because of the canopy, but from what I see the tape has done a fine job. I'm going to use it to stick a metal flashing to the underside of the asphalt shingles on my shed roof. The damn thing keeps blowing off in a wind. I'll report back soonJune 8th. I changed my rating from the original 5 stars to a 3.The tape pieces have been on there for 2 weeks+. I thought they would be a lot more secure than they are. I can easily peel them off from the metal frame. The pieces I put on the Gazebo leg have stuck to the light strip, but have come loose from the frame. If you're going to stick them to coated metal, maybe you need to prep the surface with some sort of cleaner. I'm not that happy given the previous reviews that suggested I wouldn't need the stronger tape. Ask the manufacturer about your particular application and the steps needed to ensure a good adhesion.

Pros
  • It's a cost-effective alternative to other mounting solutions that can be expensive or require professional installation
Cons
  • The tape may not be suitable for use on surfaces with a lot of dirt or dust as it may affect its ability to adhere
