Bought from Revain 2 years ago (price unchanged) and has sat untouched in my closet ever since. Teared off the seal from this AM and put it in for the initial setup. After the self-test, it skipped the setting display (BLUE) and immediately switched to (RED)/Locked. Flushed and repeated the previous steps, although it always went straight to solid RED until the last try. The last attempt went from POST to a fast/flashing RED LED. At least that status was stable because no matter how many times I unplugged/plugged in, blinking RED is the only status now. According to the manual, "The test fails the device in an inoperative state, indicated by a flashing RED LED." Good. I'm really glad this didn't work out during the initial setup as I don't want to trust this ticking time bomb of all my important and irreplaceable files/data only to find that they are now unrecoverable. Sure, I ran out of the original $ I deposited, but I would take (data integrity) > (refund) any day of the week. Now for the unfortunate task of exploring many alternatives, but I'll now discuss buying duplicate devices (or multiple vendors) and manually mirroring backups between two (or three or four) just in case.
