exactly what I was hoping for. The ears would need to be pricked up once put on to make their bases appear as wide as in the picture, but I still love it! I have a larger than average head and this hat fits perfectly (although my hair is very short). It fits like an old fashioned bonnet but covers the ears and forehead well, is very warm despite the chunky knit and the ears always stand up without the need to adjust them, although of course you can. They hold the position pretty well if you want them to look thicker like the picture. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this item to anyone considering it.
