Spend more money on a quality adapter

Honestly, this adapter was slower than the dinosaur laptop my roommate has in her closet. My router isn't even 50 feet from my room, and while it showed full signal, it was just plain creepy compared to my first-gen Surface Pro. Definitely not plug and play if you're not using it for Windows. Overall I was very disappointed. I mean, I admittedly didn't spend much on it, but I really didn't expect it to be that slow.

Pros

EASY TO USE AND EXCELLENT COMPATIBILITY: 1) Plug it in 2) Install the driver easily and 3) GO. This applies if you are using Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10/Mac OS X 10.5-10.15/Linux (Kernel 2.6x-4.7x). You can select the 2.4 GHz band (300 Mbit/s) or the 5.8 GHz band (867 Mbit/s). It can connect to a wireless router allowed by the 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac specification to improve network performance and increase network speed.
