Old Eddie's was plastic, sometimes the straw fell out of the cap, but at least you could just put it back in and keep drinking out of it. Now that that other price has collapsed, you can't even gulp water through it. and what's worse, I don't see this part for sale so it renders a $20 water bottle utterly useless. We've only had issues with the Eddy+, so if you're looking for something really durable, go with the Eddy over the Eddy+.
