Review on 🦁 Exploring the wild: TSB Banister Safari Regular Gray by Crystal Kong

Revainrating 4 out of 5

serves its purpose not recommended if you need to open it frequently

Update: I don't know if my spam filter ate it but I've never heard from the company after contacting them to ask have the wrong barrier. However, the right barrier appeared today. Turns out they sent a bigger one the first time too. The replacement gate installed with a lot less trial and error, but it still took some fiddling to figure out the optimal placement for everything. I wish there was a little more strap on the female side of the buckle than right on the edge of the barrier. It would be easier to fold the buckle around the corner of my square balusters. Although in the end I managed to find a middle ground in positioning that allowed it to work, so no big deal. It works! And now that I have the right size barrier, no extra material is curling up around my balusters and I don't have to go to the second step to install it. Now all I have to do is go back to the company and figure out what to do with the original door. (and the cat is trying to get through the gate right now, although he's perfectly capable of either jumping over it or sliding down the balustrades. I think I'll find out how claw-firm he is soon) Original review: First I did Farmhouse ordered lines. but they sent coal/snow. I emailed them a few days ago and got no response. In the meantime I set up what they sent me as I already had it out of the package and was in the process of installing it before actually looking at it and realizing it wasn't. I was like, "Wow, that looked different in the photo" while dodging a two-year-old who tried to hit him before I could stand him up. It took some trial and error to figure out how to set it up. so that it works. If you are not taught this, it will not work. It took my 2 year old about 2.3 seconds to tunnel under him on his first attempt at installation. We ended up having to install it a little further back than suggested and in the second step instead of the one below. Instead of having the barrier at the front of the arched back crotch to make it trainable, we had to place it at the end of the arched crotch instead. Once we got it right, it worked fine. Having previously easily defeated him, the two-year-old boy tried to avoid him in any way he could, but failed. Which is even better considering he figured out how to open and close every other baby gate we have a long time ago. (I had to do some clip-on straps to keep our other gates closed). Not easy to open and close, people complain, because you have to loosen individual buckles. Did you know that when you ordered? I was aware that it wouldn't be the easiest of gates, but I was fine with that as the staircase is still separated from the rest of the house by a couple of gated doors and we rarely allow a two year old free passage in front of the house (with Stairs). My 7 year old can't easily pick it up or take it off which we expected. This is something to consider before ordering, which we did and decided we were ok with as we won't be opening and closing it frequently. I give it 4 stars because it was a bit painful. The rear end set up the first time, also I'm a little worried about the stress it puts on the balustrades. And to be honest it's a little inconvenient when you need to open and close it, so I definitely don't recommend it if you're relying solely on blocking a busy stair case.
