Review on Acer V277U: 2560X1440P FreeSync Monitor with Adaptive Sync and V7 Speakers by Dana Lynnes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best value for money 1440p, QHD, 2K monitor

After almost two weeks of intensive searching for a reasonably priced 1440p/2K/QHD monitor, all roads led to the V277U. Newegg, Reddit, and Revain all seem to agree that this monitor is the best value you can get for a 1440p IPS monitor right now. I'm impressed with it as it greatly improves my ability to work. Watching 1440p on YouTube is amazing and comparing the colors of the photos next to my laptop screen tells me how great the picture is. I have had several interactions with Acer Technical Support and they have been very helpful. The only issue seems to be the unused inch of black between the frame and the usable screen. Acer suggested updating both my graphics card and monitor drivers, which I did and the problem persists. They then suggested it might be because I'm using Windows 7 and they recommend Windows 10. I haven't tested Windows 10 or any other device so I'm not sure if it's the monitor or my hardware, but I assume this is my equipment. There doesn't seem to be an option in the menu to fix the screen position. Speaking of menus, in addition to very useful presets, there are numerous options for customizing the screen. The blue light controls were the most important to me and you can crop them out to make them easier to read. It comes with a displayport cable which I use and it was just plug and play in terms of how it comes out of the box. It's VESA compliant and I'll probably get a different stand as I need it to sit lower than the current stand, but of course that's personal preference. Overall, the purchase of this monitor is worthwhile if you don't want to/can't go up in price.
