They last forever, horses love them
I've been using them on my Morgan for a few months now. They last forever. I take them off a few hours a day but otherwise they're on. I wash them from time to time, but they don't get dirty (except dust). My horse doesn't mind at all. These shields even help reduce fly attacks. The fit fits my Morgan but unfortunately they don't fit my Belgian draft.
