When I bought this airline, my main concern was that it might be too big to fit under a Southwest Airlines seat. The carrier is larger than the legal size for a pet carrier according to the Southwest Airlines website, however this carrier fits under the seat easily. It was only slightly flattened and I was really surprised at how well it fits. We especially liked leaving the retractable head section open to give our cat more airflow. We've been careful not to overcrowd the stroller by placing ample items in the legrooms of the seats left and right so the vents on either side of the stroller allow air to circulate even late. At the checkout, a Southwest employee praised how good and innovative the pet carrier is. This can be seen in the photos on the back of my 12 year old. We took our kitty Finn for a walk around the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The straps are very soft and make the backpack very comfortable to wear. The detachable bottom cushion comes in handy in case something messy happens. I highly recommend spending a little more to get this backpack carrier over some others available at Revain, especially as I've read that others often lose their shape from the weight of a backpack pet.
