Awesome direct drive extruder and hot end combo

So this is going to be a wall of text. Therefore I will put the TL version; DR is at the very beginning here: despite early production quality issues, this is an *amazing* versatile direct drive extruder/hot end assembly capable of printing even the softest TPUs. with unprecedented speed. That's over, let's dive in. Early production H2 units suffered from terrible quality control issues. However, BiQu has fixed these problems and currently available devices do not have these problems. Early production units also came with an extruder harness connector located on the bottom of the unit. Once again, BiQu has listened to its customers. Devices currently shipped have a power plug located on the top of the device. Let's take a quick look at a few potential problems.1. payout speed. I found it difficult to control the retract settings. As instructed by BiQu Technical Support, I set the retract distance to 0.5mm and the retract speed to 4.0. This is NOT a typo. The retreat speed they recommended me was FOUR. Not forty. Four. I thought it wouldn't work, but it worked, and it worked well. My final retract settings for PLA are: retract distance 0.5mm, retract speed FOUR, retract speed 40.2. Yes, it is normal for H2 to click a little when retracting.3. Don't forget to calibrate your electronic steps! I've been using H2 almost 24/7 since installing it three weeks ago. It worked flawlessly with every type of filament I've used. I only have one major caveat and that is that at this price point I think it should come with a full metal hot end that gives you access to the BiQu pressure spec. at temperatures up to 500C. Unfortunately, it comes with a PTFE-coated thermal break that limits the maximum printing temperature to around 250ยฐC. The all-metal thermal break is inexpensive, but shipping is VERY SLOW. I also had a very interesting (if not a bit confusing) experience with BiQu technical support. To be honest, I'm so upset about this experience that I don't know whether to lament it or praise it. That's what happened. Four days after ordering the H2 here at Revain I received an email from BiQu saying they were informed that my package was damaged in transit and asking if everything was ok. the box *was* damaged, and unfortunately a small plastic bag was missing with two set screws and a few other M3 screws. Although it was nice that they contacted me in advance because my package was damaged and asked if everything was ok, it quickly went downhill. For some reason I could NOT let them know that I was simply missing the little plastic bag that contained the set screws to hold the thermistor and heater block and the M3. Screws to attach the H2 to the printer. We exchanged five emails and by the end I just desperately gave up. Let's just close this with a very, very, VERY annoying language barrier, but try as best I could I could NOT get them to realize that all I was missing was a plastic bag with screws on it. When I realized I wasn't going to be successful with that, I just took the screws from other places and got on with my life. Nice that they actively reached out to me, but that they ended up not being able to fulfill the simplest function by sending me a few missing screws can only be annoying. So I think we're going to give them an 'A' for effort and an 'A' for accomplishment. All in all I don't regret the purchase and I like the H2 device itself. It's also nice that BiQu listens to its customers, fixes quality control issues, and at least TRYES to provide some level of customer support, even when the actual execution fails. on your printer. However, be aware that you are largely on your own as no instructions are provided and the company's ability to provide assistance is very limited.
