Review on πŸ’ͺ Enhanced Performance NVME Adapter with Heat Sink for M.2 NVME SSD to PCIE 3.0 X16 Expansion Card by Justin Quinones

Overview for . NVME M.2 NVME SSD to PCIE 3.0 X16 Adapter Expansion Card

I'm paranoid about the early release of M.2 NVME SSD, so I'm looking for a heatsink as well as a capacitor for surge protection on the adapter. It comes with a heatsink, but I don't want to use this x16 card without a capacitor. I ordered a x4 card and it has a capacitor, but the bracket was large and didn't include the low profile bracket I need. As a result I have used a x4 card without a bracket which can loosen over time. The x16 card has a bent end and more pins that I'm not afraid will vibrate, but this card doesn't come with a capacitor. The Q&A section doesn't seem to indicate which item you are asking questions about as the answers from YATENG (seller) say that a flat mount is included (isn't) and that the board comes with a capacitor. and the x16 board does not. For cleaning, the x4 card had a capacitor. I'm not sure why a new Samsung SSD would fail within a year as the reviewer never says if they used heat dissipation or if they had a snubber capacitor in their system. I didn't find any information about this while researching, only read about protection features on adapters, so I suspect heat and power surges might be an issue.

Pros
  • Computer Cable Adapter
Cons
  • So far so good
