Like many of you, I've read strong opinions about the scroll wheel. I was ambivalent but decided to give it a try as this was the main reason I bought a new mouse. Ergonomics was part of the solution, but after years of working with $20-30 mice, I was interested in trying something better in terms of build quality. It seemed to be the only thing people agreed on. At first it was a disappointing experience. It's counterintuitive that only Apple can offer perfectly smooth scrolling, and it's also ridiculous that Apple can't design an ergonomic mouse. After a lot of trial and error, I came to the conclusion that this mouse alone is not enough: you need Mos from Caldis. This is a small free application for Mac. Hopefully there is something similar for Windows users. I tried another smooth scrolling app a while ago and it was a confusing experience, plus it cost me a large sum of money every year for the privilege of renting it. : You want this mouse to use graduated/jagged scrolling instead of the smooth option. Too many extra moves at the expense of scrolling precision. Other settings you might want to experiment with in Mos app (under Advanced), but the following worked for me: Step: 13.3; speed 2.1; Duration 1. It was exhausting to get it right, but the things you use all day have to be perfect sometimes.
