Bought 3 of these mics to set up a podcast recording room for 3 people. The audio we were able to record was extremely inconsistent: one of us sounded just fine, the other's voice quality was mediocre, and the third person sounded like they were a mile away in an echo chamber. First step: Make sure all three microphones are working. To work. Investigation. Second step: Make sure all input levels/gains are matched. Investigation. Third step: make sure the cable is not the problem (take a sample from all three mics with the same cable/input on the board). Investigation. Final step: record a sample from the same place, by the same person, and with the exact same setup - basically you just take the mic off and replace it, so there are no other variables other than the mic you're using. BINGO! Microphone 1: Crisp, clear sound. No own echo. Recording vocals with a peak of around -10 to -8 dB. Microphone 2: Ok, sound. Weak echo. Recording vocals with a peak of -12 to -18 dB. Microphone 3: tinny, reverberant chamber sound. Recording vocals with a peak of -22 to -25 dB. NOTHING has changed except for the microphone. Same position in the room, same speaker spacing, same microphone cable, same input level/gain. This is clearly a quality control issue. I think that's why reviews on this mic are everywhere. If you're lucky you'll get a decent one. If not, then fine. BTW, as a side note: the pull rod on the swing arm (to attach it to a table or whatever) is such a weak material that it will bend at the slightest pressure. I spent over $100 on ONE good mic. , A barely acceptable microphone and an absolute scrap microphone. Not satisfied at all and I strongly advise you to use another brand. To add to this with some additional information that appeared in the comments to this review: Yes, the mics operate on 48V phantom power from the mixer, so they're not weak in my testing. In fact, I've even switched to a better mixer than the one I've been using, and this mic's shortcomings, if any, are even more pronounced. The company contacted me and sent me ONE replacement mic (which they were able to do in the comments, which by the way is no longer there). So now I have four of them. However, only one of them works adequately. A 25% chance of getting a decent mic is a pretty terrible gamble.
