Review on ๐Ÿพ Sleepypod ClickIt Sport: Superior Crash-Tested Car Safety Dog Harness for Peace of Mind by Amy Anderson

A great purchase for dog owners who like to take their dog with them!

I like to take my dog with me whenever possible and he loves going for walks with me. I read about a study where they tested the safety of different dog harnesses in a crash simulator and it wasn't very pretty - the only one that passed was the Sleepypod Clickit Utility Harness. I looked it up, but it required the LATCH system, which looked about as complicated as installing a child seat every time you buckle the dog up and the dog had to be in the back seat. I knew I wouldn't use it. However, I was worried about my dog (and mine being a flying dog can be a huge hazard in the event of an accident!) as she travels with me so much. I discovered and ordered this tableware about a month ago. I was pleased to learn that it has been tested by the Center for Pet Safety and is the only dog harness certified by that organization. Got it just in time to test it out a few times before a long trip to visit family, which is good because I used it wrong the first time (they send a lovely little spreadsheet which is very clear - I just forgot to check it properly before plugging it in!). Here's how it works on a car: It's a typical tether step that snaps in two places (e.g. behind the neck/shoulders for the parts coming off the chest and in the upper back for the parts coming behind the front legs run). . Between these two connecting straps are two more straps that run horizontally (like along the ribs) to connect them, one on each side of the dog. These straps are left a little slack and you simply thread the strap through them and attach the strap to the entire strap instead of just one point like many straps. My dog honestly doesn't like it the way it used to. complete freedom, but she tolerates it quite well. One note: I tried putting it on my dog inside to try it on and get him used to it. It wasn't doing well, which made me wonder how easy it would be to use it regularly (several times a week). After a few uses, however, she voluntarily puts her feet in the holes and lets me hook her without any problems. She can lie down and sleep if she wants. Is it more uncomfortable than when she sits down and leaves? Of course. But I feel like we're both safer and it's comfortable enough to use often. One more note, my dog got very annoyed when I dressed her while she was at her door because she kind of got her face stuck wherever she went. face when I put it in my pocket and she likes to look at me when I'm driving. Something to consider (which side your dog would prefer to be looking at - you can have front and left or front and right, but probably not all three). I use it on the passenger seat. Neither the website nor this page says anything, but the instructions I received along with the seat belts for rear seat use do. I don't understand how important it is because the front and rear seat belts are the same, but I suspect it has more to do with the rear seat being generally safer, as well as a possible airbag issue. My car has an airbag sensor - I don't know how much weight it needs to be to use the airbag but it needs to be over 40lbs as my dog weighs that much for me to be comfortable with him in the front seat. If the dog triggered the airbag sensor, or you don't have a sensor, the back seat may be a safer option - airbags can be deadly. For what it's worth - I have a medium for my 40 lb border collie mix. I had to tighten the straps a lot so I'd say it's a bit big. The literature that came with the harness states that the environment is rated up to 45 pounds for safety. I think it was the right size for her. With the manual and her measurements she was almost in the small range but I'm glad I went for the medium as the small is only rated at 25lbs. I didn't use it as a walking harness - she walked in it a couple of times when we stopped briefly before getting back in the car and everything was fine, but I wouldn't use it as a main walking harness. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I feel my dog is safer and it's comfortable enough to use, so I actually use it.
