We used part of the size chart and it worked fine. We didn't use the weight part at all as we have a tall and skinny pup and using the weight part of the size chart would leave us with clothes that were too short. I 100% recommend ignoring the letter size as there is nothing to really compare to to know what to get. Just take a tape measure and do it. Measure your dog. I know I didn't want to get off the couch and measure my goddamn dog but I did, and that's good because it went XL and I would have thought it was average in terms of size. .The outfit itself was sealed in a small bag. It didn't smell like chemicals at all. I washed on cold, gentle and tumble dried on low. It is incredibly soft and sewn very well. I am very picky about quality and I can say that this product is 100% well made. This is definitely not a suit that looks homemade or disposable. You know that cheap dog suit that will fall apart before November? It's not like this. I'll probably keep it as a little blanket for my pup to snuggle up to when he gets tired as it washes so well.
