These are comfortable, soft, lightweight cotton shorts. They could work for girls or boys. My son is a shorts size between 3 and 4 and even wears 5T jogging pants. They are xs (3-4t) and have plenty of room to grow as they are a bit loose. They don't fall off, but sag a bit. I'm happy with them because next summer they will fit perfectly. I would say that they are more than 4t. You have a good stretch. Good quality. I recommend them.
