These radios are awesome! First, dual PTT switch! This means I can quickly switch between two different channels/frequencies by simply pushing the PTT button up or down. Because it has a display, you can program these radios to give the channel a name like "Reception, Security, Manager, etc." Not that you have to, but you can. You need to connect a programming cable and download the free software on your Mac, PC or Linux to be able to name your channels/frequencies. It's ready to use right out of the box, but you can tweak some options in the menu, such as: B. the deactivation of voice commands or the annoying beeping with every keystroke. These radios also support FM radio. So I could tune into my favorite FM radio stations to listen to music. When a transmission comes in, the FM radio is overridden so you can hear the call without missing the first half of the transmission. I was able to pair these radios using the seller recommended NAGOYA NA-701C VHF/UHF antennas and via the included manual. Now I have better reception compared to stock antennas; which are also more flexible than standard antennas. I have already bought 8 of these and am planning to have 2 more. If you need protection for your radios you can place 10-15 of these radios in the Seahorse. The body of the SE830 is medium sized along with its antennas.
