Good radio I think.

I really wanted to love this radio. This was in addition to a pair of 20 year old Kenwood TH2100s and ThruTalk Murs-22s. Unlike my old radios, it has many functions and many settings. Its light, battery life is good and the accessory is compatible with other Btech radios. The disappointment is related to the sensitivity of the receiver. In tests, even with the best antenna, this radio doesn't pick up to the extreme distances that Kenwood can handle. On the other hand, the price difference…

Good Sound Quality - Radio

Good Sound Quality; Easy to use. We appreciate the fact that these devices do not require an FCC license. They appear sturdy and well built. The time will show. A few words about product quality control: We bought 12 pieces for our school. Two had broken PTT buttons (worked up but not down). The rest worked fine. The instruction manual could have been written better. It contained information about many additional functions, but no description of the simplest function: how to change the…

Very unreliable!: Portable audio and video

They have very poor quality, cheap quality, and problems receiving and transmitting traffic. The belt clips are made of thin plastic and are attached with tiny screws (about the size of a pair of glasses). On the first pair I ordered, the screw heads broke when I tried to screw them in. I'm not a savage and I understand pressure and torque as I'm a trained technician, the screws were just cheap metal and not well aligned. with holes for clips and the back of the radio. Also for the first time…

Great for security, camping, personal use

These radios are awesome! First, dual PTT switch! This means I can quickly switch between two different channels/frequencies by simply pushing the PTT button up or down. Because it has a display, you can program these radios to give the channel a name like "Reception, Security, Manager, etc." Not that you have to, but you can. You need to connect a programming cable and download the free software on your Mac, PC or Linux to be able to name your channels/frequencies. It's ready to use right out…

Very versatile radio at a great price

I bought these to replace Cobra FRS radios for our team. The sound quality is excellent even when using headphones. Each feature is programmable, so each radio can be configured to turn on whatever features you want turned on. This makes it very easy for users as they can just toggle it on and off without messing around with any settings. The ability to work in dual channel mode with optional Dual View is a very useful feature that works great. The wake-up message is also a useful feature…

Cons
  • Exorbitant price

Very decent retail radio

I've only had it for about a month or so but so far it's been pretty decent. I work the night shift at a large retail store and wanted to bring my own transceiver so I can keep up with what's happening in the store. Works perfectly. I haven't done any scientific measurements, but the RX (reception) on the BTECH compared to the Motorola they offer in the store is about the same. Although I replaced the stock antenna with an NA-701C and then a Smiley Slim Duck 5/8 155MHz version I don't know how…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Very expensive

Why you should and why you shouldn't!

why do you need a radio like that? Well, first of all, they're fun! Second, they're great for camping, skateboarding/biking with friends, and as a backup if you don't have cell coverage in your location. But I also like the fact that you don't need a license to run it, just buy it and run it without worrying about fines or jail time. My wife and I bought these for our bug bags and have been very happy with them so far. We live in an urban area, so most likely (if ever necessary) we will leave…
