The door itself is strong hard plastic but the frame is very flimsy and thin plastic that broke easily when I installed the overly long screws and went through the rear frame. We had to cover the tips with sealant so nobody gets hurt. After a week of use, I noticed a bald sore just above my dog's nose where the constant pressure on the hard plastic valve was causing him pain. A few days later, I notice similar abrasions on his back ankle, where there were bare and bleeding scratches from the hard door banging against him as he got in and out. Locks are useless! My dog banged his head twice on the door while it was locked and the deadbolts were pulled back which opened the door. I am currently looking to purchase a soft revolving door in the same dimensions as the revolving door. I will never buy such a hard valve again - my beautiful dog is now permanently scarred. I do not recommend this pet door if you are caring for your dog. I thought I would be smart to get a hard plastic valve to stay warm and cold in winter but all he does is hurt him. I have to keep the door locked so he can't use it, and I have to let him in and out through the regar.
