You must be able to connect to the Internet before using this. The instructions will take you to a website where you can download the appropriate drivers. My modern Windows 10 computer couldn't use this without downloading a driver. On the website, you enter a model number, which isn't the big number on the box, but a more complex model name. Use the help icon to find out where to find it. But the model name does not indicate a usable driver. While TP-Link had a driver for the Archer T3U (which doesn't work), it didn't have the antenna for the Archer T3U Plus that I bought. I didn't find it on the TP-Link website. I searched the internet for "TP-Link Archer T3U Plus" and found (to my surprise) a link to the driver on the TP-Link website. Technically this was a UK site and I'm in the US. Download the driver from the UK site and the device will work. The device works great, but it's a little frustrating that driver installation isn't easier. I have an antenna attached to a USB-C base station that I will be using for multiple devices. As long as each device has a driver installed, the wireless connection is working properly.
