The fan blades started to explode one by one on the fan in the bathroom, it's time to replace. This 8-blade fan feels quieter than the 6-blade fan it replaces. It moves at least as much air, if not more. The blades are made of flexible plastic and appear to be very durable. Happy with the purchase
