Review on Portable recorder ZOOM H6 black by Ada Szymaniuk ᠌

A wonderful product, it's nice to use.

I’ll make a reservation right away, I’m not a musician and I use the device mostly for interviews, collecting ambient sounds while traveling and less often for recording concerts exclusively with standard microphones (I bought an SGH-6 cannon). First I bought Zoom H4, I quickly realized that with good sound quality, its ergonomics are lame, and I changed it to 6-ku. Modular capsules - a thing! Of course, they cannot be compared in sensitivity and noise with professional microphones for serious money, but they perform a number of tasks perfectly. For example, with an XY microphone, I walked around half of Jerusalem, recording the sounds of the city, and after minimal processing, I got excellent "soundscapes" that incredibly revive memories if they are included in parallel with viewing photos. Of course, you can’t record them while holding the device in your hands, but a cheap lightweight tripod head with a comfortable handle removes the issue. The MS-microphone proved to be excellent when recording performances of choirs and vocal ensembles, as well as when recording interviews in which several people participate - a detailed stereo panorama greatly facilitates the subsequent digitization of the conversation, and if necessary, interlocutors on the side can be easily turned off or muffled in post-processing. I thought for a long time whether to buy an ordinary gun SGH-6 or SHH-6 with an MS module - in the end I took the usual one, since a good MS is already in the kit, and SHH-6 is more likely to be needed by H5 owners as a universal all-in-one solution . And finally, a joke - because of this recorder, my wife and I spent an extra hour on the Jordanian border, where we were "tortured" for a long time and politely about whether we were 2022 spies)) Fortunately, everything ended well))

Pros
  • The sound quality for my purposes is super, super, super! Modularity - three microphones for different situations The ability to work as an audio interface - for a Skype interview, you can't imagine better Junior version of WaveLab included - installed, upgraded to Elements and happy as an elephant Possibility of external power supply from any source via USB - powerbank rules Long battery life (unlike H4)
Cons
  • Screen - it would be better if they did a normal monochrome, and not this pampering Body shape and viewing angles are not the most comfortable The rocker for moving around the menu . strange, it would be better to put JogDial For this money, it was possible to make a normal suitcase in the kit, add a hard carrying case with one microphone (for example, XY, like the younger models), so as not to drag a large case with you, well, put a normal windscreen on all microphones. Serious looks intimidate some interviewers
