OMG. The best purchase I've ever made. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro (non-Retina of course) - the 13-inch version. I did a lot of research before I bought this one. If your Mac is SLOW, TRY THIS! I would recommend 8GB if you are not a gamer. I got accepted into a bachelor's degree (nursing) and my Mac is less than a year old - I was very annoyed that it kept crashing. I knew if I didn't do something fast I would be tearing my hair out in class just trying to keep up with power points and everything. A computer with 4GB of memory was enough to make my life hell. Many times I didn't even open it up to use it, afraid to deal with how slow it would run. I did a few factory resets and erased everything, starting over. I even added the CleanMyMac3 app which helped a bit but some things are just unavoidable. However, my 4 GB of memory was used up about every 5 minutes. It was LOVELY. So I took the plunge and ordered this Crucial 8GB Kit and my BIGGEST regret is: HAVE NOT ORDERED IT IN A LONG TIME! For me it's kind of plug-n-play. I literally just unscrewed the screws from the back of my case, removed the case from the back of my Mac, and easily found the old RAM cards. I pulled them out and added new 8GB cards. There is a video on YouTube on how to upgrade RAM on a Mac. Easy stuff! Just make sure you wash your hands and use a Phillips screwdriver that fits the screws on the outside of the case. As far as I know, you don't have to unscrew anything in the Mac - at least not in my Mac version. I'm a lady and I don't even like technology. If I can, you can. Oh, after you've washed and dried your hands to remove grease from your skin, before you work on your Mac, touch a real metal surface to remove static electricity so you don't short out anything. Also, make sure your Mac is COMPLETELY TURNED OFF and the charger is removed! A good thing. You can't go wrong with this! My Mac experience is insane right now. IMPRESSIVE! I also wanted to point out that my Mac is compatible with DDR3 RAM, but this version accepted DDR3L as if it didn't know the difference, so you'll be fine! :)
