Rusty knives in kitchen and dining room

We needed a new and matching cutlery set for 12 people. The previous set we had was for 6 and we bought it at Walmart. He served a little over 5 years. This item has several positive reviews and was less expensive than similar sets but not too cheap to detract from the product itself. I liked the clean and simple design. When we first got it it was a lot brighter than our old set (obviously). After a few washes in the dishwasher, where it's only for cutlery on the top shelf, the knives have started to rust in the grooves. I also noticed that this set was more difficult to remove residue than our old set and leaves fingerprints even with careful handling when putting away. It's been 7 months and some of the knives are slightly rusty and some have water stains that are not easy to remove. We won't be replacing the set unless it's really necessary, but I would probably advise against buying it if you're looking for a durable cutlery set. Update: After my review, the company contacted me about what I posted. This is part of what they wrote: "This cutlery set is made from pure 18/0 stainless steel which is useful for everyday use. If care is not taken, especially with knives, corrosion resistance can be destroyed.” They offered 50% off a new set. To be honest, I was very offended that they allude to the fact that these knives are not properly cared for. We have a special top shelf for cutlery only so I'm not sure how the knives could have been mishandled in that regard. I stand by my recommendation that this set should not be purchased if you are looking for a long lasting set.
