For the people who say just follow the guide, either you have completely different guides or your device is completely different than mine. I followed the calibration instructions verbatim. This device is still completely useless. Sometimes hairpins are not identified. Sometimes he finds switchbacks, but at a distance that clearly cannot be right. Also, I walked back and forth without breaking contact with the wall once (so it didn't need to be recalibrated) and he found studs in various places! I would not trust this device in any way. I advise against buying this product.
