Review on OnGuard Double-Team PITBULL U-Lock and Cable: Ultimate Security in Black, 4.53 x 9.06-Inch by Bobby Posner

A must have for all bike lock owners.

Received the OnGuard Pitbull U-Lock and Cable Lock combination today and am impressed with the product so far. I did some serious research before deciding on a lock and found the Pitbull to be the best value for my budget. I ride a 1997 Trek 1220 that costs about $250-$300. The idea of spending 10% of the value of your bike on a lock seems pretty silly since it's impossible to find a decent lock for $25. If you have a bike that needs locking but isn't too expensive then this is a good choice. One thing that worries me is that almost all of the people who write reviews don't seem to know how to properly lock a bike. Here is the method you should use to properly lock your bike with a set of U-locks and cable locks. Use the U-lock to secure the frame and rear wheel to a pole or other fixed object. Slip the cable lock over your front wheel (making it look like a lasso), slide it through your seat, and then attach the other end to the U-lock. This effectively protects all easily removable parts of your bike, as well as the bike itself. A cable lock should not be your main lock! Also using it with a padlock is almost useless as the padlock is easy to pick. If you use the method I suggested, your bike will be as safe as possible. No bike lock is impenetrable, but a properly locked bike should deter all but the most determined thief. Remember that a lock is an INVESTIGATOR of theft, not a guarantee of security. If your bike is $5,000, don't leave it overnight, even if it's properly locked. As for the mount, it seems to be of much better quality than I've heard from other people online. I hope my review helps everyone keep their bike safe. Happy riding!
