Our router is out of service. The WAN connection drops as the speed increases. After studying the logs, I found that this happens when the network is under load. After several calls to the ISP who insisted his modem was working. I've come to the conclusion that it's time for a new network router. I installed them with different clients and I love these peplink routers for their super simple UI and high performance. However, I lowered the price of our own home network by looking at regular consumer routers from Asus and Linksys. These things look like stealth bombers and have endless specs with options nobody wants. Knowing that these consumer routers will fail on average after about 3 years and the time it takes me to set them up properly, I'll spend the extra $100 and buy what I recommend to my customers. peplink balance (I bought the core as we already have Ubiquity Unifi WiFi hotspots). Glad I did, setup was quick and easy including VPN service so we can use public WiFi when traveling and still be protected by our own encrypted tunnel to our home network. Connected an At&T LTE modem via USB and configured it as a backup. ISP.Improvement was immediate. Browsing the web has become much more responsive. I don't care about speed test results (witches over spec). What really counts is the quick response when clicking on links on the Internet. Pages now load in a snap. In fact, after 24 hours I checked the router log and found not a single dropped WAN connection from my cable provider.
