Review on πŸ’† Kitsch Thick Hair Spiral Hair Ties, Ponytail Holder 4 pack, Black - Mega Hair Coils by Teresa Diers

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Advertised but works reasonably well

I have thick straight/wavy Asian hair and I see recommendations for these hair ties on phone cords everywhere; I decided to give it a try (I bought mega coils). I was a bit hesitant because they lose their shape (even if you put them in hot water and it might work, they don't spring back) and they're expensive (thick fabric hair ties can cost $3-5 each). 10-30 strips depending on the brand). The key is grip. I gather my hair in a high bun that sags and then unravels after a few seconds on the treadmill. I did a double twist (which made me wince because they're plastic and I expected them to pop, but you have to do a double twist if you have thicker hair or they'll fall off) and then another double twist to hold the bundle . shape and I was impressed that he held my hair up. However, the bun still loosened a bit and sagged, but not as much as a regular hair tie (which would fall out). Unfortunately, the double twist seemed to pull the hair out, but not as much as a regular hair tie. If you have finer hair or maybe a different texture where you can just hold the spiral without double twisting, you might get a different result. I can't say for sure if he twisted my hair because a regular tie doesn't leave any marks that I notice anyway. Although I'm glad I tried. Slightly annoying is that the tiny plastic box they came in wasn't secure, it was open so I suspected they had been used. I don't think they were, but it was confusing.
