This stand has a strange network connection. They give you a USB AA cable. I assume you need to connect it to your laptop and get a panel port for another device. I don't trust that so I just plugged it into my external USB power supply. I don't think that when the pillow is lying flat it gives the fans enough clearance to suck in air. I used a pad on the bottom notch to give the fans some airflow. My Asus G1712LW-ES74 laptop is 17 inch and hangs over this plate. I think they're exaggerating the laptop compatibility a bit. The only reason it works at all for me a little is because my laptop has air vents halfway up the bottom. "It seems to cool my laptop down a bit. I noticed a temperature drop of 4 degrees due to air being pushed into the vents by the top fans. I noticed this when trying to use this panel with an external battery pack when I use it turn it off it immediately turns back on. I found it odd, but when I used it with the power supply it didn't turn off, so keep that in mind. As I said, I didn't trust it enough to plug it into mine Plug in laptop. Generally I would say this is a working tablet with an external power supply, but you have to provide that. You can also roll the dice and plug it directly into the laptop. I didn't want that.
