Overall I'm really impressed with the performance and build quality of this tool. As you would expect from a brand, this is a solid and sturdy instrument that feels very well balanced in the hands. Some attention to detail, rubberized areas on the grip, and reasonably ergonomic controls. The motor is surprisingly quiet at full speed, accelerates quickly and produces remarkably little vibration. I haven't tried a dust bag and honestly don't intend to. At the same time that I bought this I also bought a 192108-A dust collector and while I'm not sure if this is the correct recommended part for this model (you know some compatibility notes in the documentation would be great, Makita) , it fits onto the outlet of the grinder with some force. I think it might be a plus that I don't have to worry about it slipping off while I'm working. When this hose is connected to my workshop vacuum cleaner, the grinder produces almost no dust. One complaint I think is justified is that they really should have built a perforated plate into the product. One of the first power tools I ever bought was a Makita 1/4 blade sander in the mid 1980's. As one of the first dust collectors on the market, it was supplied with a cloth bag and a perforated steel plate. Leaving them on a high quality professional instrument like this just seems...cheap. Also, I'm very glad I took it and I can honestly say it's a pleasure to use. Small details matter, and this machine is all about smooth, quiet work that doesn't tire my hands and requires little more effort than ironing a shirt.
