Keeps my beads, accessories and amulets from sliding around on the table. Better than the felt pieces I bought at the craft store. They usually end up in my finds. There is not a single lost strand in this mat of beads that could have fallen into my finds. It also better prevents the beads from twisting. I wish I had bought this a long time ago. I took off a star because a rug was discolored as if it had been sitting in a sunny window for a long time and the part under the cardboard stayed the same color.
