Before I bought Elgato's product, I carefully researched TB3 docking stations (other options were Belkin, OWC, Caldigit and Kensington). On paper, these products all appear to be similar, but I advise all dock buyers to read the reviews carefully, as some docks have issues with display compatibility and ethernet connectivity. Overall I am very happy with my choice. I'm using Elgato with my 2017 15" MacBook Pro and it's connected (via docking station) to my LG 21:9 monitor (Display Port), wired GB ethernet and several USB peripherals including scanners, hard drives and a device for BluRay read. Everything works fine with no dropouts. The MBP with its high current requirement charges smoothly even under heavy loads and it's really fun to be able to dock/undock everything with a single TB3 cable. Bye bye tangled cables! My only real problems are the short documentation (which doesn't even show which port is responsible for what) and the use of tiny dark gray labels on a black background to indicate the front and rear ports (really annoying sound in/out front) Obviously everyone at Elgato has a 20/20 -Sight in brightly lit rooms because the labels are completely invisible to my eyes about how long it will last.
