Review on πŸ›’οΈ Efficiently Monitor Oil Levels with the Dorman-917-008 Black Oil Level Dip Stick by Kenneth Witte

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is a true replacement probe, but it fits the tube a little tightly.

Like most people, my Nissan Sentra XE 1800cc oil dipstick broke off. This part has the same button as the original and is not one of those that mark the oil level on the dipstick after changing the type of oil. To eliminate the fear that it will break as soon as you put it in the dipstick tube, there are a few things you need to do. Wipe some oil off the tip once you insert it into the tube and find that it doesn't quite fit onto the black o-ring. I know this next part will break all mechanics, but unless you have a smaller o-ring handy, you'll have to do it. After the o-ring is lubricated, insert the dipstick as far as it will go until you feel resistance. Then gently press down while twisting the probe back and forth. Then gently pull it out by twisting it back and forth again. Repeat this a few times until the dipstick is easier to remove. You will find that you have worn out part of the o-ring, but that should be fine.
