Review on ๐Ÿ’ฅ Dexpan: The Ultimate Demolition Excavating Alternative to Jackhammers by Allen Hart

Didn't work on cinder block walls; pre-soak the concrete as well

We had to demonstrate a very old and hard concrete block vertical wall that our 18v rock drill bit didn't touch. I think it's just not good for this application and I would suggest passing others for block walls. While most of this was due to a void in the cinder block, the Dexpan seemed to dry out too quickly even where we were able to drill through hard sections. We kept trying to add water by filling it with a hose, drilling small holes and pouring more water, but it was a failure for us. Had Dexpan had an informational warning about performance on concrete block walls we would have passed so 1 star was lost due to lack of information on application to a very common wall type. 1 star because it dries quickly and there are no instructions for pre-wetting old/dry concrete. If you're trying this with a different type of cement, I suggest soaking the cement and holes a bit so you don't immediately suck all the water out of the dexpan. We ended up renting an 11-pound cable hammer to help us with the job and aim at the joints. In hindsight, renting ยฃ20 would have speeded it up, but it was heavy enough that we got less wet. The area of our wall was about 60-80 square meters. ft. With the rental it took about 5 hours to knock out, one with an electric hammer and the other with a small hammer after destroying some of the grout lines (our local shop didn't have actual sledgehammers which would have saved even more time) . . Difficult work, good luck.
