Review on 🔌 DHT Electronics Handheld Antenna Cable SMA Male to UHF SO-239 Female Connectors 6'' - Pack of 2: Reliable Signal Transmission for Improved Connectivity by Scot Hughes

High SWR! Not for HF applications.

Physically, these connectors look good. Continuity at center pins and shield and no short as measured with an ohmmeter between shield and signal conductor. However, my SDR1A didn't work with this adapter and I spent some time troubleshooting thinking it was a problem with the receiver. I connected this cable to my antenna analyzer and measured an SWR of 1:5 or higher in the 6-60 MHz range. I did not measure other frequencies. However, I could not receive any FM broadcast bands on my SDR1A at all. Somehow my Yaesu FT3D was able to get a signal out, but the signal strength was definitely weakened. I suspect that this coaxial cable is not suitable for RF signals, or that there is a design problem with the coaxial cable that is connected to the connectors. This cable may have been designed for audio frequencies. I replaced this cable with one from American Radio Supply that was tested with 1:1 SWR into the same 50 ohm load and everything works fine now.

Pros
  • Cable Length: 6 in.; Cable type: Flexible Coaxial quality Low-Loss RG316
Cons
  • No Automatic
