Review on Enhanced Conductivity Carbon Grease by MG Chemicals by John Miranda

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mandatory on older vehicles

If you have an old Volvo with a bulb integrity sensor, you know my pain. Due to the age of the car (30 years old) the connections weren't tight enough due to all the vibration it had to endure. The bulbs in these older cars are held by a bulb holder which then pivots/snaps into the holder/bulb combo housing. There are many places where the chain can break, or even a little wear/corrosion will cause an intermittent connection. After cursing my car for a very long time, I applied some of this grease to each connection point for all 14th external bulbs, which I replaced ALL at once to even out the current draw on both sides. I put the connections through hell on a heavily used road on my way to work and was amazed at how well the connections held up. Three days of punishment have passed and all ties are still intact. Caveats: You will need to squeeze out a certain amount and mix in as some of the lighter oils had separated by the time my tube arrived. However, I live in a hot climate, YMMV. Do not touch it, it is definitely harmful to the skin, there is nothing good in this tube for a person. Do not allow this jumper to separate circuits as this will cause a short circuit. You may need dielectric grease rather than conductive grease. Helpful Tips: Lightly clean the area where you want to apply lube with a wire brush and rubbing alcohol. If you've got a steady hand, apply a little to small wire harnesses and connectors with a cotton swab or bamboo stick. Think of it as really sticky solder.

Pros
  • Improves electrical connections between uneven or punctured surfaces and makes electrical contact between loose or vibrating parts
Cons
  • Disappear
