Review on ๐Ÿ” Enhanced SEO: Power Acoustik PWM-16 Pre-Amp Equalizer, in Standard Packaging by Michael Richardson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product / great price!

I've only installed it for a day but so far this pre/eq is really cool. I chose to go this route in my '93 Wrangler instead of the stock head unit since I only use my iPod and internet radio from my phone when I drive. The car is a weekend toy/trail vehicle and I installed a device in the console to protect it from the elements and thieves. I used to connect my phone or iPod directly to my amps. I didn't have any tone controls or the ability to control the subwoofers separately from the full range speakers. On a budget? This unit gives you the same control over multiple amps as if you had a head unit 5 times the price, and allows you independent control of up to four channels of full-range amplification (2 front / 2 rear) as well as a subwoofer amplifier. . Since I am using a stereo amplifier for the roll cage mounted full range speakers and a separate mono amplifier for the subwoofers, this Power Acoustic Box offered the ability to adjust the subwoofer volume independently of the full range speakers. Bass boost frequency and also offered a 4 band EQ/tone control for full range speakers so I could adjust some of the bass and ultimately get more volume out of the whole system. I've always been wary of the Power Acoustik brand as I perceive it as a 'cheap' brand, but I'm very happy with my purchase here. It should be noted that this device does not have a power switch. It is designed to be switched by your main device when the main device is switched on or off. Since I don't have a stock radio in my car, I wired a toggle switch on the dash that allows for "remote activation" of both the Power Acoustik box and my two amplifiers. The 7 volt preamp output provides enough signal for the amplifiers. Contrary to what I've read in several other reviews, I have NO hum or 12v motor in the audio system of this unit. It's just as quiet and noiseless as it used to be when I plugged my iPod directly into the amps. I'll try to remember to update the review after some time so I can talk about the durability of the device.
