Good but not quite as advertised.

I ran some tests to see if this pump would suit my needs (not the aquarium). First test: check if the maximum stroke is really 10 feet. The answer is no, it's a 9ft max with a very small trickle, maybe 1 gallon per hour when climbing to 9ft. Second test: flow rate climbing 6 feet through pipes of different diameters. 3/8" ID tubing with 6' stroke: 60 GPH. 1/2" ID tubing with 6' stroke: 120 gph. 1" ID pipe at 4' rise (sorry didn't have a 6'): 300 gph. Both tests, done with 3/8" and 1/2" pipes, put a total distance of 12 feet back before they came out at 6 ft. I also measured the power consumption for each test 3/8 tube: 23.8 1/2 watt tube: 26.6 watts 1" tube: 29 watts (only 4ft stroke) Noise level is low and not a problem for my application Overall: Pump is good, if you don't need a lot of lift this pump should do the trick Flow rate has improved a lot at lower altitudes but that's me never mind as my application requires 6ft. I would say 6ft is max NEEDED buoyancy and 9ft is max buoyancy but with almost zero flow. The design of the pump feels nice and solid. The 3 hose fittings that are included screw in nicely and are strong The suction cups are strong enough to lift an empty 5 gallon (2-3 lbs) bucket off the ground in.
