I bought this product to monitor the temperature of my home when travelling. It was really easy to set up with the Android mobile app. I just followed the instructions and everything worked the first time. With the mobile app, you can easily view temperature, humidity and wet/dry status. Historical data is available as a chart or table. The mobile app does not allow you to download data, but the PC app has a download feature. Notifications (via email and/or text format) can be configured for humidity/dryness, humidity and temperature sensor if you have advanced features. Humidity and temperature alerts can be set for high and low levels. You can select sensor monitoring intervals from 5 minutes to 60 minutes. I assume the longer the interval the longer the battery in the sensor module will last. I searched for "Advanced Features" on the La Crosse website. Advanced features include temperature and humidity, last visit time, 24-hour historical chart, 100-point table, selectable sample rate, multiple sensor add-on, view of recent alerts, email and text alerts (SMS) , minimum/maximum limit. , Low battery alerts, Lost connection alerts. The basic features include temperature and humidity, time of last visit, a 24-hour history chart and a 100-point table. Currently (purchased in July 2015) the subscription to the premium features is free for 3 months and costs 99 cents per month thereafter. Both feature sets are good for the life of the product. When your subscription for premium features ends, you can pay with PayPal or other major credit cards. Please note that the website says "The service is assigned to the sensor." There is another temperature sensor (AcuRite 09150 AcuLink) that looks interesting and doesn't require a subscription. So far I have only tested temperature and humidity, which are monitored by an external digital weather station in the tolerance range of -1/-0.5. I didn't check the humidity/dryness sensor as I don't need it now. I have serious concerns that if something goes wrong with this product, tech support will be in trouble. Their website says you won't get an email response within 2-4 days and a voice call is even worse. So I hope nothing goes wrong. FYI - if you've read a few reviews they say a few things that are no longer relevant. This product uses a real Android application. There is also an app for iPhone but I can't verify if it works. You no longer need an activation key, just use the controller serial number to register the product and follow the instructions on the mobile app (at the moment (July 2015) do not follow the instructions on the website, they are wrong and demanding to use the activation key). Update: This device stopped working an hour after I left the house. I'm not on the device and I can't reset the controller or sensor. The sensor has not worked for 4 days. I just emailed LaCrosse and will see what happens. Update: Someone reset the device. Worked for about a week and no longer works. Only order this device if you won't be away for more than a few days or if you have someone who can reset it. This machine is not reliable! Update from 02/27/16 After writing the last update, the sensor started to work after about 1 week. The temperature sensor has been working reliably for about 6 months. I don't know what caused the previous problems because nothing changed on my side.
