Strong and safe. and increases security

I installed this on an old Lane cedar box with a very heavy lid that we planned to use as a children's toy box. However, the lid was a dangerous safety hazard that could crush little hands. I installed two of them according to the instructions and now the lid closes slowly and gently and no longer poses a safety risk. They didn't make it easier to open the lid, but that wasn't the goal, it was a gentle closing. The way I installed them, the lid opens more than 90 degrees (a little more than straight up) so it stays open in that position. Overall we are very happy with this product.
