I have to reevaluate my review as after a few weeks of use I noticed every time I removed the silicone cup to pull out the hardened wax, the bottom of the silicone wax holder began to loosen and peel off. A white powdery coating remains throughout. ((See photos.)) I'm a bit confused because I ordered 5 of these as gifts (and one for myself of course). I have never seen silicone peel off or turn into a powdery substance. At first I thought it might just be wax, but it's not. The wax I use is dark red and the shell is all white. It has to happen; is it broken? This has not affected the use in any way, although the dish appears thinner in the middle, perhaps because it "melts"? I was so looking forward to getting them. Now we have to decide whether to get them out from under the tree, unfold them and give them back. I'm worried that the white stuff might be dangerous (((because I have absolutely no idea what it is))). Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue, but I seem to be the only one concerned about what this stuff is, why it's there, and how it got there. $40 every 5 is a lot of money to spend on something you are unsure about. 😩
