The fabric, seams, attachment points and especially the zips are very robust. The pockets are spacious, well thought out and conveniently located. They easily pick up larger items like binoculars, a magnifying glass, and a small field finder. There is even an internal velcro chest pocket and a zipped pocket on the inside bottom of the vest at the back which are not mentioned in the description. The mesh on the back allows for good ventilation, which is important as my nature-loving child likes to carry a backpack and quickly overheats even in the summer sun. My son is 4 years old but is tall and thin for his age (46 inches, 40lbs) and the small size fits him just perfectly with room for fleece and thermals underneath and drawstrings at the sides for a snug fit when I put it on on shirt. My son loves Dino Dana and exploring the great outdoors so this was the perfect gift for him. He's already worn them on several outdoor hikes in the National Forest. It's not a cheap costume like others I've promoted, it's real outdoor gear that I'm sure will stand up to many, many adventures.
