I bought this to replace my bearings after seeing I had bought a new air fork to fit my 29" Schwinn Santis - Upgrade suspension fork. I read how painful it was to remove the bottom bearing flange from the old fork and how painful it was to replace the star nut. I decided to just buy a new head and that did the trick. Of course you'll need to replace the bearing caps, but for me it was easy, I took a large flathead screwdriver and a hammer, hooked it onto the bearing cap from the inside of the steerer tube and hit it, causing them to pop out instantly. Make sure where your shot is and take your time. I've seen many videos on You Tube about the "official procedure" using special tools I call BS. I didn't use a "special tool" but built it up and re-ridden it with a piece of wood, a hammer, and some grease to lubricate. I actually bought a sprocket screwdriver from Amazon for a low price which really helped. Happy with the new bearings as they are quality sealed bearings that are much softer than the old bearings.
